#227: Well-Done Meat

It bothers me when I am out to restaurants with people and they get their meat well-done because I think this takes away the essence of the meat that our cavemen ancestors craved and also I suspect most people getting meat well-done do so for health-scare reasons that are irrational, rather than because they actually like the taste better well-done. I totally agree with you. I also think some people are simply creeped out when they see any red or pink.

Beast, the self-proclaimed meat-eating king, used to order well-done meat, but after several years of ridicule (mostly from me), he now eats medium. I did my part, saving my fellow meat-eater from meat-eating mediocrity.

I think that having your meat cooked well-done is like eating your steak with steak sauce. Good meat needs neither and good meat eaters know that.

Your steak sauce observation is correct. Fortunately, I hardly ever seen anyone so crass as to put that on steak these days.

just passing through and found your blog. actually i happen to be one of those annoying people. i order mine medium well done because i do like the taste. i don't like the idea of eating something bloody.
