I have hated this always because I think a disclaimer should be required on the product for a 6 month period notifying the size is smaller, when it's subtle.

But with the trend in toilet paper rolls, it's SO sneaky where you really have to have a keen eye to notice that this just smacks as a total scam in my book and should be illegal to do without a notification on the package. This is a product that no one is going to see the specs because of all the dimensions and notice it's less, unlike maybe a bottle of soda that is clearly marked with one measure. Just opened a new package and thought it looked narrower and measured against the old one and indeed, it's 1/8th or so inch less. This is on top of previous reductions over the past couple years. Namely Terry Bradshaw, as an example. Obviously, it's not their money or they just give them an equivalent bonus to cover it so it's lame they think it will be more enticing than just normal money. If it cools down at night and early morning, you should know it will warm up quickly later in the day, so just deal with the few degrees of being below you optimal temperature rather than waste energy heating up the house, only to have it too hot later. Same goes in the other direction when one could use natural cooling at night to cool down the house rather than use the A/C for maybe a brief period where the temperature is slightly above the optimal temp. And not even a very prestigious one, St. Mary's. To me, that is some shameful boasting that is just about free advertising for the college which is duping the parents. This is despite there being no danger to the water supply from the virus so there is no reason for people wasting money and creating excess trash buy stocking up on this product, especially given people are not even going anywhere. They also offer an option to redeem the points for gift cards. However, I find it dumb that the gift card rate is the same as cash back rate. Why would anyone redeem for a gift card when there is not a better conversion rate? They should offer a discount for gift card redeeming; like you only need 4,900 points to get a $50 gift card. They offer this on a few select gift cards, but all should have some discount. Whether due to people being overly scared about fire, homeowners being overly concerned about conserving water or too lazy to rake leaves, or just a general aesthetic to want nature to be "tamed", a lot of the nice greenery that I enjoyed around my house in Oakland is being thinned out and I find it sad. It takes away from privacy and make it less peaceful. Especially along Highway 13, the removal is dramatic, causing noise pollution in the surround hiking trails and for the unfortunate people living near the freeway that used to have a natural sound barrier. I think it's some economic reason too that the tree cutting companies have incentive to keep working so recommend more than necessary and Caltrans has a budget they have to spend or lose it. I do think that there should be a speed restriction to around 40 MPH or so for the traffic to be at for them to do it. But in any regard, my annoyance is at the drivers who, when they see a motorcycle coming up behind them splitting the lane and they are in the far left lane, move WAY over to the left to give them more room. Don't coddle these guys. They are big boys and know you should be going out of your way to make it easier for them. I'm not going to purposely block them, but I will not cater to their whims, especially given they do it often when traffic is already moving a nice pace. If you are deaf, you know what the person is saying, so what purposes does the signer have unless they are able to accurately convey the screech of Rosanne Barr's version but I think her crotch-grab got the picture across on that rendition. I understand that for efficiency if an item is shipped super fast like at Amazon, this might be the case that technically they can't stop or change an order, but it's stupid to be so inflexible, especially with Home Depot where I had an item that is not scheduled to ship for 2 weeks yet they say they can't stop it. And with Amazon, why can't I change the payment method? They said to do so, I'd have to actually send it back and reorder it. Idiotic. Unless it's intended so you just keep things you don't want, then it's good business, but dishonest. It's not like I think there should be a rule against it, I just don't like it because to me it's no different than throwing snowballs at the players to mess them up. Also, it encourages fans to be quiet during the home team's offensive drives which stifles excited fans. The solution will be for offenses to adapt so that they can run plays fine without being about to communicate audibly, but in the meantime, I think it's dumb that games might be decided because the scoreboard tells fans to yell and makes them feel like they have some purpose in life being the "12th man". One of my peeves of basketball is the arbitrary foul calls, which seems to have improved somewhat from what I recall. But they still do this thing I can't stand where a player fakes a shot, get a defender to jump, and then the shooter leans under the guy to take a shot and get a foul called on him. This is so dumb and should be outlawed. It's like in hockey if you purposely put your face in a spot so a guy hits you with his stick to get a penalty on him. Or in the NFL, a quarterback moved his head so a pass-rusher would hit him there and get a penalty flag. Get this stupid "duck-under" maneuver out of basketball. Severity: 4Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27646283.post-19145267373387528222014-01-11T11:39:00.001-08:002014-01-11T11:39:13.597-08:00#413: Transbay Bus Terminal Between-Pole-SqueezersOK, this one is a bit obscure, so will take some explaining. At the San Francisco Temporary Transbay Terminal, they require people crossing the road to get to the inner loading areas for various bus lines to use designated crosswalks manned by staff to ensure people don't get run over and the busses can get out of the place. My stop is luckily on the outskirts so don't have to be subject to this, but in an effort to keep people from crossing where they shouldn't, my stop has placed these benches strategically to discourage people from going between poles. The result is that when there is a line for my bus, if you don't squeeze between the poles and the benches, you have to circle around and walk further. I personally walk further because I don't like to squeeze and brush against the pole and the time savings is minimal. But, I don't begrudge those that do so when there is a line. However, when there is not a line, the opening to the bus door is so close to where you come around the blockage, there's no benefit in making the squeeze. It save maybe 2 steps. So when I see people do it, it makes me annoyed they are not properly doing a cost-benefit analysis in that the effort to squeeze and possibly get dirtied up is outweighed by the 2 steps of saving time. I think this annoyance is a bit related to people that try to always get a close parking space. It comes down to people always needing to get "the most" even when careful consideration would show a person it's not worth the effort to maximize in that situation. For instance, in a website for applying for a job at a company, I don't think it's really important that someone not hack into your account. At the worst, what is the hacker going to do, apply for a job you don't want? Severity: 4Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
