#382: Red Velvet Cakes or Cupcakes

I cringe every time I watch a Food Network show that features a bakery making this dessert because I'm against the fact that the food coloring in a big part of the item. It can't add to the taste and can only detract and so if the cake is good on it's own, they should not add the unnecessary color and just call it something else.  Severity: 1

#381: Insane Amount of Coffee Drinking in the Millennium Series Books

I am seriously worried about Sweden's coffee addiction after reading these books.  Every single entry into a new location, a person puts on some coffee.  I wonder if the coffee industry didn't pay the author off.  I mean every single time someone enters a house, wakes up, goes out, comes in, rides a train, etc. they are in the need of  coffee.  Why do they have to have it so much?  See here for some detail on this mania.  Severity: 2

#380: People Using the Term "Vacay"

Not sure why, but this abbreviation for "vacation" that seems very popular of late reminds me of a frat boy wearing sunglasses backwards on his head every time I hear it.  Severity: 1

#379: Lame Job Posting Phrase

In my job search, I am now very tired of start-ups that are looking for a "rock star" to fill their position.  Especially when it's a lame position.  It's a case where the first person that thought to use the term was original and it might have worked but now, I find it indicates severe lameness in a company to use the phrase.  Example from one I'm looking at now:

You must be comfortable with conducting extensive research with large data sets, and turn analytic learning into actionable strategy. We are looking for a rock star who can solve the toughest and most interesting problems in the company.

#378: Clapping During Tennis Match Replay Reviews

During the big tennis matches and a player asks for the replay review for a call, people in the stands do this lame clapping thing that seems sort of like they are brainwashed and little kids and I find it stupid as the replay proceeds and the decision is made.  Severity: 1

#377: Steaks With Butter

I can't figure out why fancy steak places feel the need to use butter to finish the cooking of a fine piece of meat.  Not only is the steak such a good food that it needs no enhancement, I find it to be a terrible flavor to go with beef and hence always have to remember to ask for it to be left off when ordering a steak in a nice restaurant.  Severity: 2

#376: Flyers God Bless America Singing

It used to be that when the Flyers had a big game, they'd play the video of Kate Smith singing God Bless America along with a live person, to recreate the moment in the 70's when it inspired them to win a big game.  Now, they do it for every single playoff game and it has lost it's cache and I'm getting tired of it.  Severity: 1
